Lucas Oil Continues Commitment to NHRA Sportsman racing

Lucas Oil continues its commitment to NHRA Sportsman racing as the sponsor of the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series.  “Having come through the Sportsman ranks myself, I know how important it is to have the support you need to compete,” said Morgan Lucas of Lucas Oil Products. “These are our people, these are our customers. The Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series is the core of our sport. I know I speak for everyone at Lucas Oil when I say that we’re honored to continue title sponsorship of this series.”  New England Dragway General Manager Joe Lombardo is equally excited about the announcement.  “We are thrilled to be part of this exciting series. This is a marquee event dedicated to the backbone of NHRA drag racing.  It’s their chance to shine in front of the fans in an event dedicated solely to sportsman competition.”

Since it began hosting the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series New England Dragway has given sportsman racers an opportunity to shine in front of thousands of eager race fans by incorporating the annual Night of Fire presented by the New England Ford Dealers and AAA Northern New England into the weekend.  This Saturday night event has grown into one of the most popular events on the schedule featuring Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car.  Lombardo said, “We’ve seen intense racing unfold during our annual Night of Fire.  Racers look at our event as a pivotal stop in their quest for a NHRA Division 1 championship.  Racers and fans alike know the road to championship dreams runs through Epping.”  Some of the sport’s top drivers embarked upon their professional Mello Yello drag racing careers during the Lucas Oil Series including Brandon Bernstein, Morgan Lucas, Shawn Langdon, Courtney Force, Alexis DeJoria, and Jeg Coughlin.

The 2015 event is scheduled for July 17 – 19, with the Night of Fire taking place on July 18.  It will feature the final rounds of Top Alcohol Dragster and Funny Car competition along with jets, wheelstanders and conclude with a stunning fireworks show.  Tickets will be on sale later this year.
