NHRA recently amended the roll bar rule for street legal vehicles. Model year 2008 and newer unaltered, OEM production vehicles running slower than 9.99 seconds and under 135 MPH do not have to meet the roll bar requirements for ET racing. This is great news for our Wednesday and Friday Street Night competitors that had to slow down or stop racing entirely because of the 11.49 elapsed time rule. Some restrictions still remain, however. All drivers must meet the Helmet and Protective Clothing requirements. Convertibles and T-Top entries must still comply with the current NHRA roll bar rule.
“This is great news for our Street Night competitors,” said Race Director Ron Heath. “It will enhance many racers’ experience at New England Dragway. The change comes at a great time. New England Dragway is scheduling “No Time Grudge Racing” on Wednesday’s throughout the season. Heath feels the rule change will make for some pretty tough competition and add plenty of excitement. More information will be published in the upcoming 2013 New England Dragway schedule.
