| Bob Tasca, Sr., passed away on Friday, January 8, 2010. Tasca, a motor sports legend, developed what would become a lifelong friendship with fellow motor sports icon Carroll Shelby and became the first person to help Shelby assemble the Cobra. Tasca became the second largest Ford dealer in the country during the 60’s and also rose to national prominence as a drag racer, with his Tasca Ford Racing team winning several national events including the National Hot Rod Association 1965 Winter Nationals in Pomona, California and the National Hot Rod Association 1965 Super Stock Nationals in York, Pennsylvania.
Tasca developed a tight bond with Henry Ford II during the 50’s and 60’s, becoming one of Ford II’s most trusted advisors and started traveling the world consulting Ford on production quality, performance engineering, and marketing. Tasca was a groundbreaking Ford high performance innovator who helped create the Ford Thunderbolt drag racing car and created the Ford 428 Cobra Jet Mustang.
Tasca was inducted into the Motorsport Hall of Fame in 2003 and the Super Stock Hall of Fame in 1995.
