Services for long time racer and drag racing advocate Ken Thayer are set.  His wake is scheduled for Sunday, August 20 followed by a funeral service on Monday, August 21.  “Ken was responsible for introducing hundreds of young men and women to the sport of drag racing through his involvement with South Shore Vocational School.  That included emphasizing the importance of safety, as well as the many employment opportunities available in motorsports,” said New England Dragway General Manager Joe Lombardo.  He added, “Ken was always willing to help someone.  All you had to do is pick up the phone and give him a call.  Ken never hesitated.  His generosity knew no bounds.”  For more information about Ken visit http://www.mcnamara-sparrell.com/notices/Kenneth-ThayerJr.

New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu will ride the school bus down the quarter mile on Saturday

The school bus race will feature New Hampshire Lottery Executive Director, Charlie McIntyre 

A possible $20,000scratch-card payday to a lucky fan; School bus races, featuring New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu and New Hampshire Lottery Executive Director Charlie McIntyre plus an exciting card of 300 miles-per-hour Jet-powered dragsters headline Saturday night’s New Hampshire Lottery’s “Jet Cars Under the Stars” program at New England Dragway.

Governor Sununu and McIntyre will be joined by 2017 New Hampshire “Teacher of the Year” Tate Aldrich and “Greg and The Morning Buzz

” radio personality Scotty “Roadkill” McMullen in a heads up school bus competition down the quarter-mile drag strip. The race is to help promote awareness to education as New Hampshire schools prepare to begin their 2017-18 academic year later this month. More than $1.7 billion from lottery tickets sales have gone to support education in N.H. since 1964.

“Shockwave” the jet-powered semi truck

“Shockwave,” the triple-jet-powered Peterbilt truck featuring 10,000 pounds of thrust, headlines the jet-powered program. In addition “Queen of Diamond and “Beast from the East” represent jet-powered dragsters, with top speeds capable of 300-miles-per-hour “Top Secret,” “First Strike” and a “Police Car”headline the jet-powered funny cars. In addition, the popular “Jet Trains” will return. A program of Pro Comps is also on the racing card.
