Tickets for the sixth annual NHRA New England Nationals are on sale now to the general public for the event taking place July 6-8 at New England Dragway in Epping N.H. The action packed event moves to July for the 2018 season and allows for NHRA fans to extend their 4th of July holiday week with thrilling NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series action.
The NHRA New England Nationals is the 13th of 24 events during the 2018 season and kicks off the second half of the grueling year. Teams will be aiming for success in front of the huge fanbase in the New England area that have an event to call their own. The fans have responded in resounding fashion over the previous five years, bringing a packed house to New England Dragway to witness the incredible thrills of the ground-shaking 10,000-horsepower machines.
Last season Brittany Force (Top Fuel) and Erica Enders (Pro Stock) showed the continued diversity of NHRA racing as they took home victories in their respective categories. Matt Hagan defeated Courtney Force for the win in the ultracompetitive Funny Car class.
The event also will feature thrilling competition in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series as well as the Mickey Thompson Tires Top Fuel Harley Drag Racing Series.
As always, fans will have the opportunity to interact with their favorite drivers as they’re granted an exclusive pit pass to the most powerful and sensory-filled motorsports attraction on the planet. This unique opportunity in motorsports gives fans direct access to the teams, allowing them to see firsthand the highly-skilled mechanics service their hot rods between rounds, and get autographs from their favorite NHRA drivers.
Fans also will want to visit NHRA’s popular Nitro Alley and Manufacturer’s Midway, where sponsors and race vendors create a carnival atmosphere, with interactive displays, simulated competitions, merchandise, food and fun for the entire family.
Mello Yello Drag Racing Series qualifying will feature two rounds of qualifying on July 6 and two on July 7 with final eliminations scheduled for 11 a.m. on July 8.

Roby, Eric M. of Randolph, died November 27, 2017.
Beloved son of Herbert “Lee” Roby, Jr. of Randolph and the late Donnamae Roby (D’Angelo). Caring brother of Lee Herbert Roby of Randolph. Cherished grandson of Russell D’Angelo of Quincy. Loving nephew of Richard D’Angelo, Bea D’Angelo, Eleanor Cousino and Scott Roby. Adored cousin of Andrew Cousino, Michael D’Angelo and Craig D’Angelo. Also survived by many friends.
Eric graduated from North Quincy High School. He was an avid music fan and enjoyed playing the guitar. In his earlier years, Eric was the pitcher for the North Randolph Little League. He will be remembered for his funny sense of humor. Eric will be sadly missed but never forgotten.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday at 10 AM in Keohane Funeral Home, Quincy. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.

Richard P. “Rick” Monteforte
Richard P. Monteforte, age 63, of Woburn formerly of Somerville, passed away peacefully, November 29, 2017, at the West Revere Rehabilitation Center, following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Michelle R. (Hayes) and together they shared 24 years of marriage. Born in Boston he was one of three children of the late Salvatore and Emma (Agresti) Monteforte.
“Rick”, as he was affectionately known to his family and friends, was raised in East Boston and graduated from the Everett Vocational High School where he studied and learned skills in automotive repair. Rick worked for many years as a truck driver and was a proud member of the Teamsters Union local 25 of Boston. Rick loved animals and especially enjoyed his pet rabbits April and June. He was a wonderful cook and will fondly be remembered by his family for his ‘gravy’ and many more culinary delights. He enjoyed listening to music and was a huge fan of the Beatles. However, one of his greatest passions was drag racing and being a hot rod car enthusiast. He was a member of the New England Drag Way Assoc. and was also a member of the Orientals Hot Rod Club of Reading where he had many dear friends that shared his love of racing and cars. Rick loved building and working on cars throughout his life.
In addition to his beloved wife, Rick is survived by his children, Gina Newton and her husband Jay of North Andover, Robert Monteforte of Everett, and Joseph Monteforte of Woburn. He was the loving Papa of Emma and Isla Newton. Brother of Michelle Paige of Lakeville and the late Robert Monteforte. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and dear friends in the auto and drag racing community.
A funeral service will be conducted in the McLaughlin – Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Tuesday, December 5th, at 10 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Will be held on Monday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Rick’s memory to the M.S.P.C.A., 350 South Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130.
